The short answer is YES! Let's put it in perspective...
Would you consider buying a new $40,000.00 vehicle without reading a bunch of reviews, going to the Dealer and taking it for a test drive? Or even a new $2,000.00 Flat-panel HDTV without going to the store, turning it on, checking out the picture, the resolution or even researching it beforehand?
Probably not.
And yet many people think twice about having a Home Inspection before investing 10 times the price of their car or almost 400 times more expensive than their TV!
Buying a Home may be the single largest investment you will ever make. To find out about potentially unpleasant surprises and unexpected difficulties, it would be wise to learn as much as possible about the house you wish to buy, before you buy it!
Whether it is a newly constructed house or an existing property.
A Home Inspection may locate & identify the need for major repairs &/or component replacements. Repairs or replacements which could represent thousands of dollars of unexpected investment in addition to what you've spent to purchase your new home.
The need for routine or preventive maintenance may also be found, helping to avoid more expensive repairs later.
In other words a Home Inspection is an Investment
rather than an expense.
A Home Inspection is an objective visual examination of a house, looking at its physical structure and its primary systems, from the foundation all the way to its roof, inside and out.
The inspection will include all accessible and visible areas and components of the house and will result in a detailed Inspection Report covering over 500 different points.
Please browse our Residential Inspections & Services tab for a detailed list of the many areas and components inspected and reported on. You can also read a sample Home Inspection Report.
Just as importantly let's talk about what a Home Inspection is not.
It is not an appraisal to determine the worth, value or price of a property. It is not an engineering report of the structural integrity of the house. It is not meant to focus on the cosmetic condition of the house.
Nor is it a code inspection of the type conducted by municipal or state inspectors to determine whether a structure meets applicable codes and standards
Just as you wouldn't try to operate on yourself or a family member, when needing a Home Inspection you should also consult a Specialist.
Even the most experienced Home Owners lack the knowledge & expertise of a professional Home Inspector.
An Inspector is familiar with the elements of home construction, proper installation, maintenance and home safety. He knows how the home's systems and components are intended to work; individually and together, as well as why they fail.
Moreover, most buyers have difficulty remaining objective and unemotional when looking at a house they really like and this may have an effect on their judgment.
A Home Inspector is an impartial, objective third party professional in the field of Home Inspections, trained to find, analyze, note and report not only issues &/or problems but other valuable information about your potential new Home.
